Let's talk fitness, and how to stay motivated to workout!

The world of fitness and health has its own powerful empire of muscles, diets and success stories on social media; all aiming to motivate you and push you to get results. But if you're anything like me, I like to compare myself to Jennifer Lawrence, (ridiculous? yes, but let me be me) ... who likes a good pig-out but still wants that sexy beach bod, it's hard for us not to fall off the wagon, when the struggle to stay on, is really, really real. Don't get me wrong, J.Law is an inspiration with her famous declaration of love for pizza yet she still exudes 'sexy', 'hot' and many other descriptive words pertaining to ones extreme attractiveness. But if I was photographed everywhere I go, I too will be motivated to workout. But let's not kid ourselves, I am not Jennifer Lawrence, with fame to drive my urge to get fit.

In the last two years, I've tried several times to get into fitness. My first attempt was a 2 hour, 3 times a week schedule at the gym, that never showed results, so I gave up. After a few months, I gained a lot of weight, and after a disappointing look at photos from a beach trip (every photo was 'tropic island beautiful, with the exception of my double chin, muffin top, and killer thighs), I kicked myself back in the gym.

This second time I tried High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), which worked wonders! I did HIIT for two weeks, celebrated at the beach, and was complimented for my sudden weight loss by my extremely supportive boyfriend. This prompted me to get over confident, and inevitably lazy to go back.

On my third attempt to return to doing HIIT, I tried to take the 'slow and steady' approach, but with no real motivation, that too ended pretty fast.

After these disappointing attempts, I became extremely frustrated with myself. I just wanted to feel happy about my body. I kept thinking to myself, that at the age of 22, I should be at the peak of my fitness and sexiness, but I just wasn't feeling it. Thus my frustration turned into a guilty pleasure of addiction looking at fitness photos, reading success stories of health and fitness bloggers, and ultimately, searching for as many relatable 'before and after' result photos of women who were in the same position as I am, and have reached the other side of hotness. The most influential of course, is the fierce Miss Khloe Kardashian HERSELF!

After months of initial frustration, this addiction became my inspiration (that was not intended to be so poetic). I learned one KEY thing from every blogger, and every success story, and that is CONSISTENCY. Just keep doing it. Take a few breaks from a fitness schedule, but definitely never stop.

And the only way I knew I could continue and stay inspired to just keep moving my ass, is to continue my addiction for the online fitness world. Everyday I look for new success stories. I look at women who have reached their fitness goals, to allow myself to get inspired that if they can do it, so can I. The 'before and after' photos are my most compelling motivation as I can relate to where these women (and men) began.

I am currently on my 3rd HIIT month where I have been doing 3-5 days a week of free youtube HIIT workouts for strength and fat loss. FitnessType is my personal favorite (https://www.youtube.com/user/femalefitnessaddict).
